Kim Kills It

I discovered this Sav Blanc at a Christmas luncheon. Normally, during the winter, I prefer red, but this was so crisp and refreshing and it paired wonderfully with seafood, $21/bottle

Popular Poplar

Sorry, no pic but a fantastic must-buy Chardonnay. Poplar Grove is a 10 year old winery in the Okanagan and they perfected their Chardonnay. They limit how much is made each year to ensure quality. In fact, it's so good, Taylorwood Wines limits purchases to 2 bottles per customer! Apparently, people were buying cases and they couldn't keep it in stock. Fruity, not oakey, and a wonderful bottle to give as a gift for Christmas, or to keep and drink yourself ;)

Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne

This Brut Rose is an absolutely divine champagne and is recommended for any celebration. The fabulous red fruit flavours come through and it has a great lightness on the tongue. $70/bottle

If it's good enough for Barack...

...it's good enough for me, right?

I recently was in Taylorwood Wines and bought a bottle of Quail's Gate Chenin Blanc. The sign in front of it claimed it was the white served in Ottawa when President Obama came to visit...I was instantly sold. A great white - lemon and lime flavours are prevelant and it went well with seafood. $20/bottle

Holy Water

This past weekend I tasted another wine from Church & State - this time their Sav Blanc. Definitely on the sweeter side but still fantastic and a great substitute for dessert! $20/bottle

Roadie

Joyce insisted I try Road 13's Merlot tonight and it was delicious. I think even those who aren't "into" reds would like this smooth wine. Not to bold, but a great, smooth taste. $24/bottle (BC only, Prairie friends)

Township Tastiness

Yesterday I discovered a nice, local wine. A couple of years ago, we went to the Township 7 winery in Langley and loved their Merlot and Oaked chardonnay. Yesterday, Joyce and I shared their Unoaked Chardonnay. Very tasty, refreshing and fruity. Fabulous "just finished condo-hunting now give me a drink" wine.....$20/bottle

Kendall Kraziness

Tonight we opened a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay to enjoy with our fresh halibut. The fruity flavour left a linger on my tongue. Another one to add to my collection! $25/bottle

Masi Madness

Last night, we sipped on some great wines. One of them made me think of RH because she loooooves a fantastic Italian Pinot Grigio. Verduzzo della Venezie - Masi Masianco is now on my list of "bottles I shall buy this summer". $17/bottle

Just the Right Spice

Last night we opened a bottle of Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet. It was recommended by the Wine Guys so we figured it would be decent. I will definitely be adding a couple of bottles of this to my collection as the spicy oak taste is one of my favs. $16/bottle

Oregon Vineyard Tour!

First up:
Great building, but..."meh"...the wine wasn't the best

Quick lunch in town:

Then witness a stagette's limo go into the ditch
before hitting this popular winery:

The building and flowers were gorgeous...the wine accessories unbelievable...but, again, the wine was just "okay".

We quickly pulled in here and then quickly left when we saw they were charging for tasting. Some of our group wasn't into paying.

We hit the jackpot here!

Gorgeous scenery, great cheese and a die-for pinot gris and pinot noir.
I'm not normally a pinot girl, but we had to purchase a bottle of each they were so delish. We managed to track down the cheese too!

Finally, we ended up at this gorgeous winery:
For me, the best of the bunch. We ended up sampling a fantastic Pinot Blanc, Dolcetto and a lovely Syrah. All three are in our collection. "Make love to the wine, Melissa".

Can't go wrong with Carmen

Us ladies loved this sweet-tasting GEWURZTRAMINER. Very crisp and refreshing. I'll definitely have it in the fridge for the next time I want to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. 12.95/bottle

Organic Opulence

This Malbec is the latest recommendation I had at the liquor store. I have to give the worker credit, he knows his stuff. Very smooth and satisfying. 12.95/bottle

Heck of a Wine

At dinner tonight, the ladies indulged in a bottle of 2006 Hess Collection Chardonnay. There is no doubt that this is one of my new favourite whites. I love an oaked wine and the fruity flavours of this one, combined with the oakiness, have my tastebuds wrapped around it's...well, entire bottle. $35-40/bottle

YUM.

My father-in-law brought Jacob's Creek Shiraz Cabernet over after dinner tonight. A great blend and easy to drink. Not too hard on the wallet, either! $15/bottle
